Feb 08, 2019 When you set up 2FA, most services send you a code by SMS by default, but many services also allow you to use a 2FA app, which you can run on your Mac, your iOS device, or even your Apple Watch. In this article, I’m going to explain why you should use an app like this, and I’m going to discuss three such iOS apps: Google Authenticator. And at the same time, there is a kind of standard 2FA, that Google and Microsoft use. They do offer an app, where you can just touch and allow or deny access, much like apple does. However, at the same time, they do allow a standard code generator, like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator to generate offline codes. This is why I never ever make a password for 2FA apps, I learned the hard way when I used to use Authy's Chrome extension. I lost access to my Coinbase - also learned the lesson to always use real name for registration info:( (I am unable to recover my account at Coinbase, even after going through ID verification, because I had not previously.
